THE OPPORTUNITY

Working with us as Business Development Broker, you will be a part of the Business Development Team. You will support the Business Development Director, Client Directors and Account Executives, whilst building relationships with prospects, underwriters, and relevant stakeholders across the Group. 

On a daily basis you will showcase your skills and knowledge by:  

  • negotiating, placing and reporting to Client Directors at various stages of the client programme;
  • create new business questionnaires, carrying out market analysis, using your negotiation skills with Insurers, and Providers, by keeping abreast of market appetite and competitor awareness;
  • demonstrate your ability to analyse the risk by interpreting claims experience and claims data;
  • review and abstract pertinent information from surveys/New Business Proposals to create insurer willingness to write business with WIRM; 
  • ensuring adequacy and appropriateness of cover; contributing to the achievement of team and business objectives by identifying gaps, up selling and cross selling;
  • managing personal workloads and meeting deadlines;
  • keeping accurate client records and files at all times, including timely inputting of all client data into our bespoke system;
  • responding to client queries, including changes in cover and risk, in a professional and timely manner
  • ensuring that Company procedures, excellent client service standards and FCA compliance regulations are adhered to and maintained;
  • proactively managing valued client and insurer relationships; 
  • build good working relationships with the Account Executives, Client Directors and the wider team;
  • attend occasional client visits/meetings in support of the Account Executive or Client Director.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Should:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of handling Commercial Key Accounts, and possessing minimum Cert CII qualification and/or working to their Diploma or Associateship
  • Demonstrate experience of producing New Business Reports for New Business Executives
  • Have excellent communication skills, as well as an established rapport with Insurers and Underwriters in order to seek their commitment to align with WIRM to secure mutual business development. 
  • A sound technical knowledge across a range of classes of businesses is essential.

This fast paced role will require the candidate to have a proactive and resilient work ethic, providing support to our Business Development Team, they will have an ability to work to deadlines, and on occasion, meet rigorous goals in terms of delivering the desired Insurance Programme to some of Northern Ireland’s most sought after brands. 

The candidate will benefit from the support of the Business Development Team, as well as aligning relationships with stakeholders in our AIS (Claims), Risk Management and Employment Services teams. 

This significant strategic focus on Business Development will see the successful candidate nurtured and supported, to include occasional joint visits, participation in business development meetings, and receiving placing direction from our Business Development Director and Broking Director.
